Staff and unions have been protesting outside Roehampton's Queen Mary's Hospital amid fears of a government U-turn over staff contracts.
The new community hospital is to be built under the controversial Private Finance Initiative (PFI) arrangement.
Protesters say PFI has caused delays because of the government's insistence that all ancillary staff remain NHS employees.
But this week unions are angry about rumours that this insistence is about to be dropped.
l Health chiefs were unavailable as the Guardian went to press.
