THE American ambassador to Britain has thanked Dartford residents for their kind messages following the September 11 attacks.

Dartford mayor Councillor Tom Maddison, sent a letter of comfort and support to the American embassy along with a book of condolences from residents following the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington. In his letter, American ambassador William Farish thanked the people of Dartford for their kind messages of comfort and support.

He said the messages would help strengthen the daunting task of fighting terrorism.

He added: "Acting in unison, we will bring peace and security to the world."
