Insult to dead

What a sad reflection on the dead from the two world wars, when you publish photographs and headings on CND activists preaching their hypocritical nonsense close to war memorials. To highlight the recent incident in New York to justify their presence must surely be a dishonest excuse on their part as this group have for many years now shown an anti-American attitude yet present themselves as supporters and mourners of the events of September 11. Spread your propaganda if you must, but not at memorials for our war dead.

Musical vote

As a young musician from a state school who has come through Bromley Youth Music Trust (and enjoyed every moment) you will be able to guess my views on where I stand on the proposed budget cuts. Something must be done. And a small note to the Conservative Council of this borough having only turned 18 this year I am anxious to vote for what I consider to be the "right" party. Thank you for making my choice easier by excluding yourselves.

Rocket officer

Despite this not being November 5, the noise from fireworks, is still causing our animals to cower indoors again. While a few evenings spent celebrating firework night seem justified, surely this should not extend indefinitely? Could Bromley consider appointing a "fireworks officer" next year to investigate reasonable complaints about irresponsible fireworks use Please?

Big thank you

I would be very grateful, if I could, through the News Shopper, offer my thanks to all those in the Penge and Anerley area who helped raise a record £4,348.50 for the recent Poppy Appeal. It was at least £700 more than last year, a magnificent achievement. Thank you very much.
