I read with surprise the comments in the Wandsworth Borough News (October 12) regarding the proposals for the regeneration of the Lots Road power station site.

For your information, our application was submitted on June 5, 2001 many weeks before the tragic events of September 11.

Your readers may be interested to know some of the key facts about the scheme, for the mixed-use regeneration of this 11-acre, riverside brownfield site, with decontamination costs of £30million.

Our proposed development provides for approximately 900 apartments, of which 284 apartments will be affordable housing.

There will be a much welcome overall emphasis on public open space and pedestrian permeability, opening up the site with access to the Thames foreshore for the first time in over 100 years.

This will be achieved with a network of footpaths through the scheme 600 metres of new Thames Path National Trail and Thames Cycle Path and a new linear park along Chelsea Creek, including a creekside walk and three pedestrian bridges.

In addition, a substantial amount of money has been earmarked for improvements on traffic and transport improvements in the area, including better bus services.

In terms of the overall setting, I should point out that a cluster of tall buildings is already evident, including World's End, Chelsea Harbour, the Sands End gasometers, Imperial Wharf, Montevetro and the power station.

We have worked hard over the past 18 months to develop a scheme in careful consultation with both local and national statutory and non-statutory consultees and so far we have received only a positive response.
