Piles of rubbish have been causing grief for owners of a recruitment agency in Worcester Park.

Prospects Recruitment in Central Road is disgruntled about bags of refuse being dumped outside the agency.

But thanks to the Guardian's

intervention, the council has promised to rectify the problem.

The trouble began a month ago when a rubbish bin outside the shop was moved by dustmen to a new position further up the road.

However, this has not stopped people dumping their refuse in the same place and because the bin has been moved, the rubbish is no longer being collected.

Angela D'Aura, partner of Prospects Recruitment, said she is extremely unhappy about the problem.

She told the Guardian: "We've been accosting people, asking them why they are dumping their rubbish there and they say because every one else is."

Ms D'Aura explained black bin liners and carrier bags of rubbish used to be left when the bin was outside the shop but they were always collected. But now the rubbish is just left to fester on the streets.

Ms D'Aura added: "The dustmen just drive straight past."

After daily phone calls to the council, one load of rubbish was moved at the end of the last week. But the next weekend, new rubbish appeared, much to the frustration of Prospects Recruitment.

When the Guardian spoke to Sutton Council, it said it was concerned to hear about the problem.

A spokesman said: "We had no idea the bin wasn't there. It must have been moved or stolen. Another one will be there next week."
