Carshalton's recent unbeaten run came to an end on Tuesday night when they lost 2-1 away to Aylesbury United in Ryman League Division One.

The Robins' defeat follows their 0-0 league draw with Whyteleafe on Saturday, when an abysmal first half performance saw Carshalton fail to get any shots on target and get continually caught out by Whyteleafe's long ball tactics.

It was only woeful finishing from the home side and good goalkeeping by Stuart Searle that kept the score sheet blank at half time.

Whyteleafe created numerous chances and were finding a lot of space down their right flank, but their forwards squandered chance after chance.

Carshalton regrouped at half time and after 50 minutes almost took the lead when Kevin Lock's shot hit the outside of the post.

Whyteleafe still looked dangerous on the break but the vulnerability to the long ball in the first half was largely snuffed out.

In a match that was often ill-tempered, the Robins Danny Moore was harshly sent of for two bookable offences and seconds later - after a flare up near the corner flag Whyteleafe's Dean Lock suffered the same fate.

The result means Carshalton continue their good form, but they will gain little comfort from such a performance.

This Saturday Carshalton are at home to Worthing in Division Two and on Tuesday the two sides meet again in the league cup.
