YOUNGSTERS from a Bexley youth centre have been given the chance to experience the excitement of the West End theatre scene, for free.

Fifty young people set off for the Lyceum theatre last Friday to see a performance of the musical The Lion King, based on the Disney animated film of the same name.

The trip, which included theatre tickets and transport, was paid for through a scheme funded with lottery cash through the Millennium Commission.

The Millennium Encore scheme is run by the National Association of Clubs for Young People and is aimed at stimulating interests in the creative arts by making them more accessible to young people.
