European Union Commissioner Chris Patten addressed graduates and academic staff before collecting an Honorary Doctorate of Business Administration from Kingston University on Monday, January 20.
Faculty of Business Dean, Professor Gwyneth Pitt said the university was proud to recognise Mr Patten, a former governor of Hong Kong, for his outstanding career as a public servant.
She said: "Chris Patten has dedicated his entire working life to improving conditions for people both in Britain and abroad, never shying away from contentious issues in his pursuit of justice."
