Concerned residents say a proposed composter in High Wycombe's High Heavens tip would be dusty, smelly and noisy.

Members of Great Marlow Parish Council plan to lobby Wycombe District Council to oppose the plan for 2.4m high composting clamps measuring 15m by 6m.

The composters would be used to process 30,000 tonnes of green waste a year from household waste sites in Buckinghamshire.

Waste collected from doorsteps in High Wycombe would also be rotted down at the site in Clay Lane.

But councillors at a meeting last Thursday said they planned to oppose the application by Buckinghamshire County Council at a consultation meeting tomorrow.

Cllr Malcolm Blanksby (Indep, Marlow Bottom) said the composting facility would be unsightly.

He added: "The site is within a short distance of residential properties and smells, dust and noise resulting from such a development will create a nuisance to occupants."

Cllr Blanksby suggested that existing waste disposal sites at Wapseys Wood, near Gerrards Cross, or off Broad Lane, near Beaconsfield, should be used instead.
