THE FIFA series has always been immensely popular with gamers, perhaps due to the fantastic marketing job done by the producers. Yet despite the huge hype and popularity, previous releases have been rather hit and miss.

The latest PS2 version from UK Sports has been launched on yet another tidal wave of publicity and has already hit the top of the charts.

This is the football release that gives you total authenticity when it comes to the naming of teams, players and the grounds which these superstars grace, including 16 of the world's top leagues as well as European and international cups.

In fact, there are 450 teams featuring 10,000 players.

Unfortunately, unlike the other two sims reviewed you cannot edit the players to add yourself to your favourite team's line up well I did say it was authentic.

The graphics are excellent with instantly recognizable players such as David Beckham and Edgar Davids.

The sound effects are as good as its rivals and there is an excellent soundtrack to pump you up for your matches.

If you want a well presented totally authentic game, then Fifa 2003 is for you.

Overall: 4.5/5
