LONG-AWAITED work to slow traffic in Bean High Street has begun.
The £35,000 project, which started last week, should take five weeks to complete.
The traffic calming scheme consists of constructing speed cushions and gateways, laying red surfacing and new road markings and installing speed limit signs of 30 mph.
One lane of traffic along the high street will be closed during the work, with temporary traffic lights in place.
Kent County Council predicts it will improve safety.
