(Herts Intermediate Cup Fourth Round)

A FIFTH consecutive County cup semi-final place beckons for the Swifts, after two second half goals from striker Damon Miles saw off the challenge of Herts County League side Codicote at Silver Leys on Saturday.

Despite enforced team changes the hosts comfortably eased their way through to a home semi-final meeting with Sun Postal Sports.

The Swifts striker was denied a deserved hat-trick when a late effort hit a post.

After a bright opening spell from Codicote, Swifts could have taken the lead in both the sixth minute and half hour mark when Steve Luxford came close.

The first goal did however finally arrive on 52 minutes, when Jonathon Coates floated over a cross for Miles to head home past a stranded Moodey in the visitors goal.

The lead was then doubled on 80 minutes, when Hollamby set up Miles to score his second goal of the afternoon with a deft shot into the bottom right corner from close range, before the Swifts striker was denied a hat-trick with a late effort that hit a post.
