A driver was crushed to death by a falling tree blown down during a wind gust in north London, yesterday.

The man, who has not been named, was driving in Hadley Highstone, Barnet, when the tree came down about 1.30pm.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said a Red Goddess together with the rescue teams removed the body from the car.
