POLICE are appealing to clubbers to come forward with information on an assault at an Enfield nightspot.

The attack at Eros in Dearsley Road, which came just a week after two incidents in the car park of the club, resulted in a 27-year-old man from Edmonton suffering three fractures to his skull.

A police spokesman told the Independent that the victim was dancing inside the club at around 12.30am on the morning of Saturday, January 18, when he was punched in the back of the head. The blow sent him crashing to the floor and he fell unconscious.

The victim told police that the next thing he remembered was being helped up by the bouncers and put into a taxi back to his house.

He went to Chase Farm Hospital later that day where an X-ray revealed that he had three skull fractures. He had an operation yesterday to insert two metal plates into his skull.

Police believe that he was dancing with a group including one girl and two other men at the time of the attack and officers are hopeful that someone in the club saw what happened.

DC Jason Turkington, of Edmonton CID, said: "This was a cowardly attack on a young lad that was just out to have a good time."

He is hoping to get some information from witnesses and will then study the club's closed circuit television (CCTV) to try to pinpoint the attacker.

Eros bosses have fully co-operated with the police and a statement from the club also claimed that the assault happened outside the club, near a burger van.

A spokesman said: "We will not tolerate any activity that puts our customers' safety at risk and we have recently reviewed our security to provide additional protection to our customers as they leave the premises."
