Police are appealing for witnesses after three youths robbed a Tesco Express supermarket on Shirley Road last week, assaulting staff as they made their escape.
The robbery occurred at 8.30pm on Wednesday, January 22, when three black youths aged around 17 approached the tills.
When the female cashier opened the cash register, one of the suspects pushed her backwards and grabbed cash from the till.
When she tried to close it another suspect held her back, before all three suspects fled with an undisclosed, minor amount of cash.
Another shop assistant, who tried to block their escape route, was punched. Two members of the public witnessed the incident and CCTV footage is being studied by police.
Anyone who saw three black youths running or acting suspiciously in the Shirley Road area that evening should call DC Ross McEwen at South Norwood Robbery Squad on 020 8649 1217.
