There are 2,000 fewer pensioners in Kingston than there were 10 years ago, according to figures released by GMB this week.

The union found elderly people are moving from cities into the shires. In 1991, 18.5 per cent of Kingston's population were pensioners, but in 2001 15.3 per cent made up the 150,000 population.
