London is supposed to be moving forward on nature conservation, not backwards (Species under threat from a drying lake', April 17).
It would be a real tragedy if Darlands Lake were simply left to dry up. A number of Barnet residents have written to me about the need to protect this important site.
London Mayor Ken Livingstone's biodiversity strategy stresses the importance of protecting wildlife sites such as this. As one of your Green Party members on the London Assembly, I will therefore be tabling a formal question to Mr Livingstone, asking him what representations he is making to secure the future of the lake.
