THREE people have been arrested in connection with offences related to Redbridge Council's 2002 election.
Following an anonymous tip-off to the Guardian, New Scotland Yard confirmed that two men and one woman had been arrested for fraud-related offences carried out during last year's election campaign.
A police spokeswoman said police launched an investigation into allegations of corruption and arrested the three last month.
Officers are currently liaising with the Crown Prosecution Service. The three have been bailed to return pending these investigations. No charges have yet been brought against them.
