Dulwich Hamlet FC face an anxious wait to see if they still have a future after it was announced the planning inquiry into its new ground would not make a decision until the first week of July.

Hamlet, who finished fourth in Ryman League Division One South last season, want to relocate to a vacant area of land next to Champion Hill.

The new ground would have all-weather seven-a-side pitches, cricket nets, tennis courts and a main football pitch.

If the inquiry's decision is positive, the club can begin planning for the future. But if it decides against the proposal, it will almost certainly signal the end of the 109-year-old club.

Hamlet manager Martin Eede said: "We need this ground to move the club forward and the planned facilities would make it a great stadium.

"It would be devastating for the players and everybody in the local area if we were forced to fold."
