Herne Hill Harriers' young athletes bagged a hatful of medals at the South of England Championships in Watford last weekend.

Gold medals were won by Allandre Johnson (javelin), Rebecca Passkey (long jump) and Precious Ojighoro (U15 200m, 22.88 seconds club record; 400m).

Moyo Sankofa twice beat his own club record to finish third in the U17 400m (49.42 secs), while Shani Rainford won silver in the U17 high jump and Dexter Nichol was second in the triple jump.

Chanelle Garnet earned a bronze medal in a season's best time of 14.43 secs for the 100m hurdles and Ezekiel Elowu leapt 6.68m for third in the long jump.

Sammy Mensah clocked 10.95 secs for the 100m and 22.3 secs for fourth place in the 200m in his first year of competition since taking up athletics last September.

Jade Bee recorded a season's best time of 12.04 secs to reach the final of the 80m hurdles, while Paul Payne ran 11.27 secs for the U17 100m.

Seandelle Haley made both the U20 100m and 200m finals and Michelle Nash did the same at U17 level.

At the Thameside League meeting in Battersea Park Herne Hills boys and girls won the U13 and U15 events.

This Saturday, Harriers' Division One and Five teams are in action at Tooting Bec track. The match starts at noon.
