A WOMAN was taken to hospital after a candle started a fire in her house.
It was left on top of a television set in a house in Shobden Road, Tottenham, early last Sunday morning.
The woman managed to escape from the house before the fire brigade arrived but was suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation and required hospital treatment.
The incident has led Tottenham firefighters to advise Haringey residents to ensure any candles or tea lights are put on heat resistant surfaces or in proper candle holders.
