The future of Sutton Seniors' Forum has been secured after it received a £37,000 grant from the lottery's Community Fund.

The forum had feared it would not be able to pay its part-time co-ordinator unless more funding could be found, leaving the future of the organisation in doubt.

It applied to the Community Fund in January and was this week told it had been successful.

The money will allow the forum to continue to employ co-ordinator Jean Bevan for at least the next three years and pay rent and general running costs.

Chairman of Sutton Seniors' Forum David Dombey said the role of co-ordinator is vital to the continued running of the organisation.

He added: "I am absolutely delighted, my feet have not touched the ground since I found out."
