Former England non-league team captain Gary Patterson has found himself without a club following the upheaval at Farnborough Town.

The 30-year-old midfielder, who twice won the FA Trophy with Kingstonian in 1999 and 2000, said: "My contract with Farnborough ended on May 6, so I am a free agent.

"But, so far, no other clubs have contacted me, despite my name being circulated by the Professional Footballers' Association.

"The way the game is going, I could find it hard to get fixed up with a Conference club.

"With so many players being forced to drop out of the Football League, clubs can take their pick.

"My success with Kingstonian and my Division Three championship medal with Shrewsbury in 1992 may count for nothing now."
