CARERS and residents are being invited to put the kettle on and host a tea party.

The tea parties will form a major fundraising arm of National Carers Week, which runs from Monday June 9, to Sunday, June 15.

The week-long campaign, which this year has Take a Break for Carers as its theme, has been organised to celebrate the contribution the seven million carers nationwide make to their families, friends and communities.

Redbridge Carers Support Services has organised a chat room for coping with stress on June 10, a parent opportunities forum on June 11 and a free fitness pass day for carers, on June 13. For further details, ring Doris Holder on 8514 6251.

A day carers course will take place at the Millennium Disability Centre, Ilford, on June 13, details from Paizah Neave on 8911 0652.

The events are designed to raise awareness of carers needs, and help reach out to hidden carers who are not aware of the support and services available.

Carers UK, Contact a Family, Crossroads Caring for Carers and The Princess Royal Trust for Carers have joined forces to raise funds for National Carers Week. Funds raised will be divided between Carers Week and carers organisations.

Anyone who wants to organise a Take a Break for Carers tea party in Redbridge should contact 0845 3306141 or http://www.carers.
