Elegant dancers in fantastic costumes graced the floor of Crystal Palace Sports Centre, performing a huge range of dance-styles in an international dance competition, which attracted 400 top ballroom and Latin American dancers from more than 26 countries.
Participants in The Crystal Palace DanceSport Cup 2003, which took place on May 19 hailed from various countries including Russia, Japan, Finland, Australia, Italy and the USA.
The event, which was formerly the National DanceSport Championships, went international for the first time this year.
Olga Komarova organised the competition with Nick Kremichenski both of whom came over to England from Russia 13 years ago. They were both professional dancers before turning to teaching.
Ms Komarova said: "The huge demand to both compete in and watch dynamic dancing has transformed the contest into an international event, which showcases the cream of competitive dance.
"We want to encourage international participation in dance-sport in England and bring this fabulous spectacle to people's attention.
"We believe that Dancesport, which developed from competitive ballroom and Latin American dancing, incorporates a unique cross-over between sport and entertainment.
"The vibrant designer costumes, top DJs, artistic lighting and imaginative set ensured there was something for everyone to enjoy."
Ms Komarova also runs competitive dancing classes for children aged seven and above.
