I write regarding the letter in the Sutton Guardian on May 8 from a homeless squaddie.
I too served in the British Army (Royal Green Jackets) for four years and served on two operational tours, saw two friends die and ask myself for what?
On leaving the army, I applied to Sutton Council for a property.
I too was told the same thing, I had no chance of accommodation, so I am back in my sleeping bag on a family member's sofa.
I can only agree with everything in the letter that the squaddie wrote.
I have been in touch with my local MP Mr Brake who has written to the Rt Hon The Lord Rooker of Perry Bar, Minister of State for Housing.
This may be useful for others in my situation.
