ROAD tax cheats will have to be wary of the Government's latest weapon against them a hotline which the public can call to report them.
Those who dodge the law and don't pay their road tax can now be reported on the hotline number, 08000 325 202.
Fighting the estimated 187,000 unlicensed vehicles in London, which costs the capital more than £20m a year in lost revenue, the DVLA is coming down hard.
Those caught without road tax will be clamped and face prosecution as well as a fine of up to £1,000 for private cars and £23,000 for heavy goods
vehicles. A DVLA spokesman said: "We are determined to target this irresponsible group, and are inviting the public's help in doing it."
