RECENTLY released figures show a massive rise in the number of danger signals passed by trains on the London Underground.
The figures, published in a Transport for London report uncovered by Redbridge and Havering GLA member Roger Evans, reveal that between April 2002 and March 2003 there were 752 trains passing through red signals compared with 685 the previous year.
Mr Evans said that although the Tube had a back-up system which automatically stopped trains if they passed danger signals, he felt that London Underground management appeared to be relying too heavily on the back-up.
