HAVERING and Redbridge London Assembly member Roger Evans has welcomed an Olympic bid for London but is urging the Government and Ken Livingstone not to put an additional £20 on Redbridge council tax bills.Mr Evans' plea comes after Thursday's announcement that London was to bid to hold the 2012 Olympics which would be partially funded by a £20 surcharge per year on London council tax bills from 2006.
The Conservative GLA member asked the Government and Mayor Ken Livingstone to find an alternative method of funding the games.
