A MOTHER-of-four is "worried sick" at the thought of having to pay an £806 parking fine she has been fighting for two years.

In May 2003, News Shopper reported residents of Thicket Road, Anerley, received parking tickets and had their cars towed away to make way for Bruce Springsteen fans attending a concert at nearby Crystal Palace Park.

Neighbours complained there was insufficient warning about the disruption and fines were later written-off by Bromley Council.

Allyson Mansaram, 39, was one of the residents who received two parking tickets after failing to realise she had to remove her car to make way for fans of The Boss.

But unlike other residents, her fine has not been waived and following visits from bailiffs the council is now demanding £806.

The full-time mother said: "A neighbour told me the council said we did not have to pay the fines. I wrote to them to confirm this but they never got back to me."

Two years later, a letter arrived saying she still has to pay the fine.

She added: "Now the bailiffs have been three times. It is stressing me out. I am sick with worry, it's £806 we just don't have.

"I don't even want to think about where we will get this money from, we are just about making ends meet at the moment.

"Why should I have to pay when others have not?"

A spokesman for Bromley Council said: "Mistakes do sometimes occur and where we have discovered the warning signs were not clear, we have cancelled these parking tickets.

"Motorists should appeal if they genuinely feel we have made a mistake and they should contact us so we can investigate."

He added: "This motorist contacted us last week and we have asked for information from her so we can assess her case.

"We do have to do this now, as the time allowed for appeals has passed."
