A £20,000 reward is being offered for information about the killer of a dad-of-seven from Manor Park three years ago.

Despite exhaustive inquiries, officers are no closer to catching the lone gunman who shot Jahangir Malik Azam, 42, in his restaurant The Balti House, in Upton Lane, Forest Gate.

Mr Azam, lived with his wife and children in Sherrard Road, Manor Park. He was sitting in the restaurant talking to a friend and customer when the gunman fired about 6.30pm on February 7, 2002.

Shortly afterwards a man was seen making off along nearby Skelton Road.

Det Insp Larry Smith said: "We are hoping that by renewing appeals and offering a substantial reward, someone might come forward with information.

"This was a particularly brutal murder and I would ask anyone with any information, however seemingly small or insignificant, to contact us as soon as possible."

Anyone with information should call the Incident Room on 8345 1585 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
