ROCK stars, sporting personalities and even Prime Minister Tony Blair have been spotted wearing them on their wrists.

And now The Peace Hospice, Watford, has followed suit and produced one of its own.

Following the success of wristbands emblazoned with slogans such as Make Poverty History, the hospice is selling its own bright yellow wristband, promoting the work it does helping those with life-limiting illnesses.

Embossed with the slogan Keep The Peace the hospice wristbands are selling as quickly as the hospice can bring them in.

They are available from the hospice’s six charity shops and the main reception at the hospice.

Gill Crowson, community fundraiser said: “Everybody loves them; it doesn’t seem to matter what age people are.

“From children to our more senior supporters the wrist bands are being well received. We chose yellow as it is the same colour as the hospice symbol the sunflower and just like the sunflower the wristbands are a symbol of hope and support for our patients and their families.” With more than £2.8million to find to keep the doors of the hospice open and 85 per cent of that from voluntary donations, the hospice is hoping this new fundraising initiative will help bolster donations.
