BECKENHAM PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY
In the recent four club competition held at the societies meeting place, the standard of the entries was somewhat disappointing. Never the less, some interesting prints were still submitted "Mystery Woman" by Peter Gates, was a brilliant black and white study of a veiled Moroccan lady.
The monochrome image showed the skin textures of the face to perfection, which was further enhanced by the delicate folds and subtle shades of the soft black robes.
"Ready for lift off" by Gordon Mitchell showed the London Assembly Building taken diagonally, giving the impression of a space rocket about to aim for the moon. The solid blocks of Victorian buildings surrounding this monstrosity added to the effect.
"Checking the bridle" by Mike Cleave showed a young girl in 17th century dress with a Shire horse. The study was close cropped so as to concentrate of the delightful expression on the girls face. The face of the horse was largely cropped out of the picture.
