RAVENSWOOD (West Wickham) WOMEN'S INSTITUTE
This month Ravenswood WI celebrated its formation 50 years ago. We have a thriving membership that appreciates the fellowship and educational role of the WI.
During the year we have had speakers on "The Real Italy", "Romans in Britain" and "Life at Number 10".
Members have joined small groups to play whist or scrabble, learn about patchwork, sing with the District Choir and make new friends at monthly "Needles and Natter" afternoons.
At our Birthday meeting on Thursday, October 28 (the exact date of our birthday) we enjoyed a slice of birthday cake and a glass of Buck's Fizz.
Our speaker was Mrs M Smith who spoke on Trekking in Nepal and Kilimanjaro. Members were presented with a booklet containing a collection of their memories of 1954 complied by Shelagh Titchener, one of our Vice Presidents.
On Thursday, November 4 we celebrated again with a lunch at The Warren, Hayes, to which our present members and past presidents were invited. We look forward to many more successful years.
