BURGLARS taking advantage of the upcoming festive season should find it harder to get away with it now a police operation has been launched.
Police stop checks and high-profile patrols in problem areas are being carried out until December 27 as part of Operation Castle.
In a bid to both prevent and detect burglaries, officers will also be targeting known offenders in the lead up to Christmas.
North Kent police's Detective Inspector Andy Short said: "We'll pursue them by whatever means at our disposal and would ask for vigilance on behalf of the community by reporting all suspicious activity."
Investing in timer switches is recommended, along with a reminder to keep all doors and windows secured.
Det Insp Short added: "Gifts bought at this time of year can become a tempting target for criminals intent on easy pickings and it's our aim to combat this rise by pro-active means."
