POLICE are appealing for information after bogus callers visited two elderly women living in the same street.

The first man knocked at a 84-year-old's door in Elm Drive, Dartford, pretending to be from a water company.

She let him in after he told her there was a blockage in the pipework.

He remained in the kitchen talking on his mobile phone before leaving the house.

The victim later noticed a trail of footprints leading into her bedroom.

A 78-year-old woman, also opened her door to someone claiming to be from a water company and needing to check her taps.

He came into the house and left through the front door after he was told there were no leaks in the property. He was seen meeting up with a man and they got into a green Rover in Sherlock Avenue. Nothing is believed to have been taken during either visit.

Police believe they are linked and are looking for a white 30 to 40-year-old man with short dark hair. He was wearing a dark coloured top and black trousers.

And a white 20-year-old man with dark brown hair, who was wearing a blue fleece, jeans and blue trainers.
