CONTROVERSIAL plans to build a self-storage warehouse in a residential area are to be discussed at a public inquiry.
Starting on November 30, the Planning Inspectorate will hear evidence from Lewisham Council and the Big Yellow Storage Company, which wants to build a warehouse on Baring Road, Lee.
St Mildreds Residents' Group has been fighting the plans for three years and has already won a High Court battle against the plans.
Big Yellow has forced the inquiry because the council failed to respond to one of its applications within the statutory time scale but campaigners have criticised the move as a cynical use of a planning loop-hole The inquiry will run for four days at Lewisham Town Hall, in Catford Road.
