TWO sisters have been locked up for attacking a teenage girl and a woman on a bus.

Charlene, aged 19, and Elisha Ince, aged 20, of Bargrove Close, Penge, punched the 15-year-old girl and a fellow passenger who came to her assistance, Croydon Crown Court heard.

Prosecuting, Reid Pearce said the girl was with friends on the bus travelling through Beckenham on April 7.

Mr Pearce said: "One of her friends was elbowed in the back and the same thing happened to her. She got up and was assaulted by Charlene Ince.

"She was then assaulted by several other people and the two sisters punched her."

Fellow passenger Leah Cronk tried to help but was struck on the back of the neck and a police officer was also hit, the court heard.

Defending, Lesley Manley said the sisters had come from an unstable background.

Judge Cedric Joseph was shown a report on the long-term effect of the incident on the teenage girl.

Charlene admitted affray and actual bodily harm and was jailed for 12 months. She also admitted a charge of handling a mobile phone found on her in a separate incident in February.

Elisha, who pleaded guilty to affray, was given six months' detention.

A further allegation of them intimidating their victim on April 30 was dropped.
