VISITORS got a chance to look round the former home of the father of evolution.
English Heritage opened up Down House for free on Saturday and Sunday as part of celebrations to mark the National Lottery's 10th birthday.
One of seven properties participating, Down House, in Luxted Road, Downe, was where Charles Darwin lived and worked for much of his life.
The scientist carried out experiments at the house and his former study still has many books and instruments from the period on show.
Among other buildings taking part, Eltham Palace, off Court Road, was open on Sunday.
