PUPILS and staff arrived in fancy dress to celebrate book week.
More than 400 pupils from Hook Lane Primary School, Faraday Road, Welling, swapped their uniforms for a day to dress as pirates and castaways.
A special assembly was held for the children with teachers acting out treasure island stories taking them on a journey through shark-infested waters.
The rest of the week involved activities such as making books and storytelling from children's authors Chris Powling and Roger Hurn.
Deputy headteacher Miranda Smith said: It was very successful getting the children enthused about books for the week. It coincided with our emphasis on putting fun in the curriculum.''
