FOR the second year, Bexley Council's pensions fund has been judged the best performer in country.

The fund, worth £300m, scooped the award for the best performance for UK equities over the past three years.

The pension scheme is run by two fund managers, who are overseen by the council's pensions committee, and provides retirement pensions for council employees.

The council's exchequer services team, which takes care of housing benefits, tax collection and the council payroll, was runner-up in its category.

The awards, held at the Dorchester Hotel, in London, are run by the Local Government Chronicle.
