A PRIMARY school pupil has beaten 67,000 children in a young writers' competition.
Latisha Oozageer, 11,of Hengist Road, Northumberland Heath, is one of the lucky winners to get her 250 word poem, The Thick White Blanket, published by Forward Press.
The publishing company run their annual poetry competition with more than 4,000 primary schools to nurture children's writing abilities.
Northumberland Heath Primary School submitted Latisha's poem for its originality.
Latisha's dad Sunny Oozageer is very proud of her achievement.
He said: "I am pleased as Punch and no doubt the school is very proud of Latisha as well.'' Latisha added: "I have proved something to myself by achieving this."
The poem will be published in a book called Once Upon A Rhyme, which is out in November.
