TORIES are proposing changes in the way permission is granted for mobile phone masts.
If they win the next election, they say they will insist all phone mast proposals must get full planning permission, health concerns would have to be taken into account and they should not be a blot on the landscape.
Parliamentary candidate for Bexleyheath and Crayford David Evennett, who has himself campaigned against a mast near his Barnehurst home, said: "Of course we all want to use mobile phones but it is about time people in Bexley had the final say on where masts go.
He added: "At present, Bexley Council has very little discretion over their location and the planning control committee is explicitly prevented from taking health concerns into account."
