THE council has completed £200,000 road works two weeks ahead of schedule.

Bromley Council was severely criticised by traders in June when it announced plans to close Mottingham Road, Mottingham, for seven weeks for resurfacing and drainage works.

Several shopkeepers consulted a solicitor hoping to get the work stopped or force the council into paying compensation. In an effort to minimise disruption, the council worked hard to complete the works last week.

Mike Dudley, street services contract engineer said: "We have done all of the various engineering work which needed to be done including liaising with Thames Water. This should mean motorists, residents and traders will not be affected by road works for the foreseeable future."
