A FATHER-of-three weighing 36 stone died from heart failure partly due to his "morbid obesity".
Gary Sherwood, 35, had not been upstairs at his Goudhurst Road home, Bromley, for three years due to his weight, Southwark Coroner's Court heard.
His partner, Dela Ryan, said Mr Sherwood had been drinking two bottles of whiskey a day and slept on the sofa.
Talking about the evening of his death Miss Ryan said: "He was in a happy mood. He talked about giving up drink and losing weight. He wanted to get better for his kids."
Pathologist Dr Peter Jerreat said Mr Sherwood died from heart failure on April 1. He said: "Morbid obesity played a part."
Coroner Dr Adela Williams recorded a verdict of accidental death.
