A PRIMARY school is celebrating after winning two awards for its environment projects.

Forster Park School in Boundfield Road, Catford, held an eco-assembly to celebrate the Green Guardian Primary School of the Year award.

It also achieved the highest level in the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) schools campaign.

The school has an eco-council made up of six pupils and three teachers and was set up to find ways which make the school cleaner and greener.

Children aged seven to 11 also help maintain two wildlife gardens at the school, which is home to nesting robins, toads, frogs and newts.

Forster Park is one of only 17 schools to reach level five of the RHS campaign for school gardening.

Headteacher Jenny Chiverton said: “The schools eco-council work tirelessly with students, parents and the local community to make Forster Park a greener place to work, study and play.”
