BIGGIN HILL: Charles Darwin School pupils' penny appeal for heroes

EVERY penny counts at a school where children have pledged to raise £3,500 this year for war heroes.

Year 9 tutor groups at Charles Darwin School have been collecting pennies and loose change for the Help the Heroes since January.

So far at the school in Jail Lane, Biggin Hill, they have already raised more than £2,110.

Year 9 achievement co-ordinator Anne Adams said: “Be it a cake sale, pennies in the pot, making up Christmas boxes or whatever, Year 9 never disappoints me.

“All eight tutor groups in Year 9 are actively involved and take a pride in their charity work.

“The charity Help for Heroes was chosen by the pupils and they set themselves the target of raising £3500.

“It's a steep target but I feel confident that with their level of commitment these Year 9s will achieve it.”
