NEARLY 5,000 votes have been cast in the first week of News Shopper’s search for the cutest kid in the region.

Our Child of the Year contest has got off to a fantastic start after we asked readers to begin voting for their favourite photos from the 670 entries.

Voting continues until April 11 after which we will reveal the five children who have polled the most votes in each of two age categories, 0 to 18 months and 19 months to five years.

Nine of these 10 kids will win £100 for their parents to spend at Nigel Barrett’s photography studio in Bexleyheath.

We will then announce the one child who received the most votes out of all the entries.

This youngster will be the overall winner of the competition and will receive a £250 photography voucher, a framed portrait picture and a bundle of toys and games – plus the accolade of being News Shopper’s Child of the Year 2010.

To help choose who wins the contest we want you to browse the pictures and cast votes for your favourites, the picture-perfect children whose lovable faces and sparkling smiles make them stand out from the crowd.
