POLICE were called to St John’s Road, Sidcup,at 11.25am this morning (March 16)after workmen were threatened by a teenager wielding an axe.
The workmen had gone to the aid of a woman who was being assaulted by the youth.
Armed police were summoned and they forced their way into a nearby house and arrested an 18-year-old on suspicion of affray, possession of an offensive weapon and common assault.
He was also arrested on a warrant, for taking a vehicle and driving it away.
The teenager was taken to Bexleyheath police station, where he remains in custody.
