A 39-YEAR-OLD man accused of stabbing Sunny Eze to death went “on the run” after the killing for six months, the Old Bailey heard today.
Mr Eze, 35, was found dead in his kitchen at Vyvyan House, Campbell Close, Shooters Hill, on March 4 last year.
Jamaicans Michael Henry, aged 39, from Brixton, and Mark Brown, aged 35, from Thornton Heath, are accused of robbing and killing the Nigerian national during a drug deal.
The court heard that an associate of Mr Eze, Olisaemeka Chibuzo, told police he had been in the flat when the murder happened.
He told officers that Brown had been carrying a gun while a second man, believed to be Henry, stabbed Mr Eze “repeatedly”.
Mr Chibuzo later identified Brown to police but was unable to identify Henry.
Prosecutor Brian Altman told the jury Henry went “on the run” after the killing.
Six days before his eventual arrest on September 8, Henry moved in with a woman in West Norwood, claiming his name was Abdul and he was her friend's uncle.
While there he allegedly told her he was wanted by the police over drugs.
Mr Altman said: “She wanted the man out of her flat. He wouldn't leave – he made threats to her.”
After she moved out of the flat, police arrested Henry and charged him with the killing.
Brown and Henry both deny robbery and murder.
Henry claims he was not at the flat and his mobile phone, which was found beside Mr Eze's body, was planted there.
Brown also denies possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear and violence.
The trial continues.
